Context
When it came to the product design, the research was done already, I helped solidify their abstract vision and designed and shipped the MVP in under 3 months.
I did not have experience working in healthcare and creating AI tools, so I spent initial weeks researching and holding many meetings with the team to discover the problem and understand the research that had been done.
Regular meetings were also held for presentations and feedback
But Why?
From initial meetings, I found that Yama wants to make pharma marketing content generation efficient and cheaper.
Currently its a compliance nightmare with regular fines including suspension.
Pain Point #1
$80 billion in fines
Pharmaceutical manufacturers currently allocate 20% of their marketing budgets to create promotional assets for the US and global markets.
Big pharma has paid over
since 2010
Pain Point #2
Slow, expensive process that does not guarantee impact.
If we create a tool that allows for researching different drugs and competitors, and creates marketing content with automated compliance updates based on different regions , we can significantly reduce fines, time, and cost.
Knowing the key pain points, we hypothesized that
After multiple rounds of iteration, we landed on a design that was simple, effective and let users research, converse with research papers using AI, extract insights, and create marketing content.
I collaborated with the founder to decide on the key features we would need to create the MVP. The plan was to put the MVP in front of potential users to get feedback and iterate and build more functions based on that.
Building the MVP
We used the Ant Design System as our basis to
create a custom design system for Yama.
Doing this significantly cut down costs and fast-tracked production.

We are working on building the second version with the following key upgrades
Take insights and turn them into visual marketing content. (This currently works but we are Yama is making it better and simpler to customize)
Making pre-defined workflows users can use to complete specific tasks.
The team is currently testing Yama Science with potential users and these updates will be included in the next version along with more improvements based on the insights we get from the testing phase.
